A little holiday on the Rhine

David and Natalie invited us to join them for an overnight trip to Koblenz, a beautiful wine town on the Rhine about 2.5 hours drive from Dortmund. We spent the night in a fortress (rebuilt after being conquered by Napoleon) that had been converted into a DJH hostel.

DJH has a dozen or more hostels in the region, many of them in castles, so we will definitely be returning to this area. Many of the guests were on multi-day bike trips along the Rhine or Mosel rivers -- fun!
