Bamberg

We traveled to Bamberg this weekend. The city was not really hit by the war at all, and thus it is still largely composed of original buildings. The whole city ia a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is easy to see why.

Bamberg has a quaint feel to it. Parts feel like Brugge, while other sections==built up on water--feel like a mini-Venice. Although the temperature was warm and it rained for a good portion of the day, we enjoyed exploring the city on foot.

Bamberg is also home to 9 breweries, each one specializing in its own kind of beer. Rauch beir (literally smoked beer) is a beer brewed only in the area. It smelled like liquid smoke and was a fine polish to a fall day, particularly when enjoyed in a beer garden.

While we were there, we saw people canoeing and kayaking one of the canals. Instantaneously, we decided that this would be a great trip for next summer.
