First Trip to the Museum

This afternoon we visited the Schirn Kunsthalle. The museum featured two exhibitions, one focusing on Renee Magritte and the other on an artist we had never heard of before, Peter Doig. We joined some folk we met through Rob's new German class for the Doig exhibit but got to sneak past the Magritte exhibit taking the special passage for strollers.

Doig's paintings were composed, for the most part, larges washes or branches of color that blended together...kind of like the world seen through a puddle. One of our favorite rooms included paintings similar to this one Rob and Emi are enjoying. The juxtaposition of organic colors and lines with the Mondrian-style Bauhaus building structures were really interesting. At least this is what I think Emi was thinking.
