Another change or transition that Emi is trying to make is becoming a mover. She has been scooting, mostly backwards, for a while. She continues to get up on her knees, but has yet to put hand motions together with the rocking in order to propel herself forward. Instead, she has focused on pulling herself up on everything she can get her hands on. While at my mom's house, Emi had her first experiences in a pack-n-play due to the presence of a brick floor and great dane. She wasn't in it often, but when she was she kept trying to pull herself up on the lining. Here is the result of a successful attempt. Notice the pride in her smile.
We are also hoping Emi is finally getting some teeth. I know, as well as anyone, that children develop at their own paces, but it feels like we've been waiting on Emi's teeth for a while. We've also been saying, "Oh, she's probably teething," for at least 2 months to explain inexplicable behaviors. One such behavior is her new habit of sucking her bottom lip in which she does constantly now. I am trying to let it be, but it reminds me of an unfortunate picture taken of me from the 7th grade. I will work on not projecting and just letting her be....ahhh, parenthood.
